CRDC Global is now CRDC Materials
Concrete kerbs, channels and edgings with RESIN8™ were selected on the Phase 2A IRT Infrastructure Project to illustrate the massive contribution that local Government infrastructure projects can make towards diverting plastic waste from landfill, by completion this will amount to over 37 tons of mixed plastic waste diverted & over 283 tons of mined aggregate saved.
With a new name and four industrial plants in market, we're scaling access to innovative materials like RESIN8™—ensuring no plastic goes to waste
ANNOUNCEMENT
Our journey began in Costa Rica with a bold idea: What if plastic waste—especially the kinds that no one else could recycle—could be transformed into new materials that are valuable, durable, and regenerative?
That idea became RESIN8™, a patented, high-performance construction material made from every kind of hard-to-recycle plastic on the market, of any resin type. Multi-layered, co-mingled waste streams, foils, contaminated with food—you name it. Even dirty and degraded plastics pulled from rivers, beaches, and the environment get renewed purpose in our hands.
All of it becomes RESIN8™.
We launched CRDC Global to commercialize RESIN8™ in 2018. Since then, we’ve grown this patented, first-of-a-kind technology from a single facility in Costa Rica to a global network of plants producing RESIN8™ at an industrial scale on four continents and counting.
And we’re just getting started.
Why CRDC Materials?
As we scale, we need a name that clearly communicates both what we do and why it matters.
CRDC Materials perfectly captures our impact and our dual identity:
- We are an innovative plastics recycling solution capable of processing all plastic materials into new materials, without falling back on incineration.
- We are a materials innovation company creating next-generation products that empower governments, brands and the construction industry to lighten the environmental footprints of critical infrastructure.
What Makes Us Different
At CRDC Materials, we don't just recycle—we reimagine what's possible.
Our patented RESIN8™ process is unlike anything else in the market. It requires no sorting or washing of plastic waste. Instead, we take all mixed and co-mingled plastics—resins 1 through 7—and transform them into a hybrid mineral-polymer composite that bonds securely with cement paste and asphalt binders.
The result is a material that:
- Repurposes up to 800 kg of plastic waste per ton of RESIN8™.
- Is up to 4x lighter than traditional mineral aggregates, reducing transport emissions and construction costs.
- Has a net negative carbon footprint of-44 kg CO₂e per ton in our flagship Costa Rica facility.
- Uses almost no water to produce.
- Performs as well or better than conventional materials in concrete and asphalt.
We’ve also engineered proprietary machining to handle lightweight films and flexible plastics—materials that typically clog recycling equipment and are often incinerated or landfilled—if they are collected at all. Our innovations allow us to process these low-value plastics more efficiently than standard mechanical recycling, unlocking a truly scaleable solution to a pervasive global problem.
Built on REAP: A Regenerative Business Model
Our work is guided by the REAP framework—Recover, Enrich, Appreciate, Prosper. An innovation of our parent company, The Center for Regenerative Design & Collaboration (CRDC), REAP is a regenerative circular economy model that ensures every step of our process feeds a virtuous cycle of value creation in the communities where we operate:
- We recover hard-to-recycle plastic waste from households, businesses, and the environment.
- We enrich it through our proprietary process, transforming it into RESIN8™.
- We appreciate its value by embedding it into infrastructure that lasts for decades.
- We prosper by creating social, environmental, and economic benefits for all.
This model has earned global recognition across our network of facilities—from the World Economic Forum to the United Nations Development Programme to the International Olympic Committee—and it continues to guide our expansion.
What’s Next
As CRDC Materials, we’re entering a bold new phase of expansion.
Our ambitious 20/20 Vision for Growth aims to establish 20 RESIN8™ production facilities by 2030, each capable of processing 20,000 tons of plastic waste per year. In all that’s 400,000 tons of plastic diverted from landfills, incinerators, and the Ocean—every year.
And we’re not stopping there. Our long-term goal is to license our technology to allies collaborating to empower communities everywhere to build their own circular ecosystems for plastic—transforming local plastic waste into a resource for local sustainable construction.
